Disney Friends for Change Grants Inspire Creativity Among Young Change-Makers

There’s a common theme in making a difference—creativity. Whether you’re looking to protect the planet, help your community or promote healthy behaviors, your creative ideas can inspire your friends and peers to lend their skills, interests and talents to create a brighter tomorrow. Disney Friends for Change, too, is committed to supporting young leaders in pursuit of making their communities greener, safer, smarter, healthier, cleaner and fairer. Their annual grants program, through a collaboration with leading youth organization Youth Service America, will provide $500 grants to help young dreamers and doers make a lasting, positive change in the world. Projects and initiatives taking place on or around Global Youth Service Day (April 17–19) will highlight the creativity and commitment of young people who work to meet the needs of others.

Disney/ABC Television Group Inspires Families to Put an End to Bullying Throughout October

October marks National Bullying Prevention Month and Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) has teamed up with nonprofits GLSEN, Pacer and GLAAD to promote ways kids and families can prevent and put an end to bullying in their communities. DATG kicked off its “Choose Kindness” campaign at the beginning of the month on "Good Morning America," and is encouraging youth and millennials around the country to be the best version of themselves. The initiative will include public service announcements (PSAs) that will air on ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior and Radio Disney throughout October.

Disney's 'The 7D' Presents a Contemporary, Comedic Take on The Seven Dwarfs

Expect to see a whole new incarnation of your favorite whistling dwarfs when the diminutive miners get to work in "The 7D," premiering on Disney XD Monday, July 7 (10 a.m. ET/PT). The series will also debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year.

Production Begins on 'The Lion Guard'

Disney Television Animation has begun production on "The Lion Guard," an animated television movie and series that continues the story introduced 20 years ago in the acclaimed Disney animated film "The Lion King." Geared toward kids aged 2–7 and their families, "The Lion Guard" television movie will premiere in fall 2015 and the subsequent series will debut in early 2016 on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.

Disney Publishing Worldwide Shines at Bologna Children's Book Fair

Bologna, Italy, is a city known for its culinary tradition. But did you also know that it’s the location of one of the largest children’s book festivals? Each year, Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) travels to Bologna, along with hundreds of publishers, editors, authors and agents to attend the Bologna Children’s Book Fair—a three-day event that is one of the most significant book festivals for the children’s publishing industry. In 2013, the fair had 1,200 exhibitors from 75 countries and 25,000 international professional trade representatives. This year’s book fair—which took place March 24–27—marked another action-packed event. DPW’s booth was a popular destination for guests and showcased the latest content from Disney’s publishing arm.
