As Disney & Pixar’s Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, The Walt Disney Company is continuing to extend the beloved franchise’s over 30-year legacy through impactful initiatives that bring the magic of movies to children’s hospitals and communities globally.

“At Disney, we have so many incredible stories and characters that our guests around the world have a deep emotional connection to,” said Lisa Haines, Senior Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, The Walt Disney Company. “Moments like the release of Toy Story 5 offer an opportunity to turn that connection into hope and joy for kids and their families when they need it most.”

Disney’s efforts surrounding Toy Story 5 extend far beyond the screen, including a range of initiatives that are bringing these beloved characters to support the happiness and wellbeing of kids, families, and communities. Those moments will continue to be shared on this page throughout the coming weeks.

Sharing Toy Story 5 at Children’s Hospitals

As Disney looks ahead to the release of Toy Story 5, the company is sharing the magic of movies — and the delight of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang — with young patients in children’s hospitals around the world through first-ever immersive experiences, meaningful moments of joy, and special screenings.

In the United States, Disney is continuing its 25-year collaboration with Starlight Children’s Foundation to help create meaningful moments of imagination and fun in ways that only Disney can.

Disney is bringing Toy Story 5 to over 400 children’s hospitals, including in more than 300 across the United States. Through Disney Movie Moments, young patients and their families will be able to watch the newly released film while it is still in theaters — alongside Toy Story-themed deliveries of toys from Disney Store, and Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear-themed Starlight hospital gowns — to help bring comfort and joy to the hospital experience. In addition, Disney incorporated a first-ever red carpet moment at the Toy Story 5 Los Angeles premiere with a live pay-off in never-before-seen pop-up immersive experiences for young patients at select children’s hospitals, which you can read more about below.

Across Europe, a Toy Story 5 character tour will visit 10 children’s hospitals in 9 countries, bringing the magic of movies into the heart of hospitals. A new Toy Story brand spot further highlights how Disney storytelling creates moments of comfort, imagination, and escape for young patients and their families. In countries across Asia, Toy Story characters are also making children’s hospital visits, including to celebrate the opening of a Pixar-themed care space.

From the Red Carpet to Communities Around the World

Star Command Message Transmission

The children’s hospital initiative kicked off at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on June 9 with the “Star Command Message Transmission,” an interactive digital installation where premiere attendees, including stars of the film, wrote heartfelt messages for children in hospitals. These messages will appear at select hospital activations across the country, connecting young patients directly to the excitement and spirit of the premiere.

Children’s National in Washington, D.C.

On June 16, messages from the red carpet were transmitted to patients and families at Children’s National in Washington, D.C. as part of an immersive, interactive Toy Story 5-themed experience. The Toy Story Imagination Station featured a life-size interactive Lilypad activation, character meet-and-greets with Woody and Jessie, toy giveaways, drawing sessions with Pixar animators, and an exclusive screening of Toy Story 5.

“PlayWell with Disney” in Shenzhen Children’s Hospital

Toy Story characters also visited patients and families with VoluntEARS from Hong Kong Disneyland and the Walt Disney Company (China) at Shenzhen Children’s Hospital in Chinese Mainland to celebrate the grand opening of their new Pixar-themed care space.
