From the moment Bluey bounded onto screens around the world, it was clear the series was something special. Created by Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC Studios, the Emmy®-winning animated phenomenon captured the hearts of kids and parents alike with its warmth, humor, and authentic depiction of family life.

What began as a beloved preschool series has since become a global sensation. Now, through Disney’s unparalleled storytelling ecosystem and the close collaboration of BBC Studios and Ludo Studio, Bluey is reaching families in even more ways.

After becoming a smash hit on Disney+, Bluey and her sister Bingo are already delighting families aboard Disney Cruise Line and in a live stage production — “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” — at Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland Park, and beginning today, the characters are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort.

Looking ahead, The Walt Disney Studios will distribute the first-ever Bluey feature-length film in theaters on August 6, 2027.

A Natural Companion for Family Storytelling

When BBC Studios first brought the series to Disney, “we were able to bring that brilliant storytelling to families at global scale and give it a trusted home where it could become part of everyday family life,” said Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television. “It’s the show families watch before school, after dinner, or together on the weekend. That kind of cross-generational viewing is where Disney really shines.”

Bluey was the most-watched series across all streaming platforms in the US in 2024 and 2025, thanks to its breakout success on Disney+. In 2025 alone, the series was streamed for more than 45 billion minutes on the platform, according to Nielsen.

According to Shelley Macintyre, CEO BBC Studios Brands and Licensing, “Bluey has always been about sparking joy and togetherness, and this collaboration creates delightful and unique moments for families to step right into the heart of the Bluey universe.”

“There’s a natural synergy between Bluey and Disney,” Davis said. “Disney’s unrivalled ecosystem gives us the ability to seamlessly extend worlds that audiences love.”

This funny and honest look at modern family life celebrates how imaginative play helps shape healthy children. Australian blue heeler puppy Bluey has a boundless imagination and loves to turn daily life into playful adventures. She and little sister Bingo throw themselves into exploring their world, using gameplay to conquer their fears and try out adult roles.

Seamlessly Expanding from Streaming to Experiences

After the breakout success of Bluey on Disney+, bringing the character into Disney’s live experiences was a natural next step.

As David Lightbody, Senior Vice President of Disney Live Entertainment, put it, “Getting to see and interact with beloved Disney characters is a hallmark of any Disney experience.”

“Disney has spent decades creating these kinds of memorable experiences,” Ludo Studio noted, “and working with their talented performers, musicians and creative team to bring ‘Bluey’s Best Day Ever!’ to Disneyland guests feels like a perfect match.”

As Bluey moves into this next chapter, Cecilia Persson, Managing Director, BBC Studios Kids and Families, emphasized that staying true to the source material remains paramount.

“What matters to us is that every Bluey touchpoint feels true to the show so brilliantly created by Joe Brumm and Ludo Studio, even as Disney brings its own unique vision and expertise to the partnership,” Persson said.

“Our creative teams at Disney Live Entertainment worked very closely with partners across Disney Branded Television, BBC Studios, and Ludo to dream up experiences that would look and feel authentic to Bluey and invite guests into that world to play along like never before,” Lightbody said.

Working on these characters is also deeply personal for many involved.

“Many of our team members are big fans of Bluey, just like our guests! Personally, I love watching the show with my kids,” Lightbody added. “It’s been a dream to work with the creators of Bluey, sharing assets and ideas and coming up with different ways to bring Bluey to life.”

Each experience created by Disney Live Entertainment is tailored to its setting — whether it’s dancing and playing during “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at Disneyland Park, taking part in favorite games with a fun animal twist at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or getting the day started at sea with the Wakey Wakey morning celebration on Disney Cruise Line ships.

“The experiences may be different from one location to the next, but they are all true to the heart and humor of the show that everyone loves,” Lightbody said.

A Collaboration Built on Creative Integrity

For BBC Studios, the relationship represents a powerful opportunity to reach families in an unmatched scope while preserving the integrity of the storytelling.

“Disney has been an outstanding global partner in helping us bring Bluey to more families around the world,” said Persson. “Through Disney+, they’ve brought the series into homes at remarkable scale, connecting it with audiences far beyond its original home in Brisbane.”

Macintyre echoed that sentiment. “BBC Studios’ partnership with Disney has brought Bluey to families around the world, and this next step with Disney experiences will deepen the connection fans have with the brand,” she said. “Bluey’s entrance into first-hand experiences across Disney’s parks and cruise ships is an important milestone in building Bluey’s long-term legacy.”

For Ludo Studio, seeing Bluey leap from screen into real-world Disney experiences has been both thrilling and deeply aligned with the spirit of the show.

“Ever since Disney+ gave Bluey a global home for many families, it’s been exciting to watch that partnership grow from streaming into something you can actually go and experience For Real Life,” the studio shared.

Building on those live experiences, fans will be able to enjoy Bluey in another new way in 2027, when The Walt Disney Studios and BBC Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, release the upcoming Bluey feature film in theaters.

Bluey is already part of so many families’ everyday lives, and bringing it to the big screen gives us the opportunity to turn that into a special, shared experience while expanding the world in a way that feels both familiar and cinematic,” said Daria Cercek, President, Disney Live Action – Theatrical.

Together, Disney, BBC Studios, and Ludo Studio are demonstrating how a modern family brand can move seamlessly from streaming to immersive storytelling — rooted in a shared belief in the joy of play and the importance of staying true to what made the series resonate in the first place.

As Bluey continues to grow across platforms and generations, that expansion stands as a potent example of Disney’s global creative flywheel in motion — bringing stories families love off the screen and into real life in ways that deepen that connection.
