With Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arriving in theaters May 22, the story that began on Disney+ debuts on the big screen for the first time, claiming its place at the center of a global entertainment moment.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island is Live

Further solidifying that sense of community, fans across the globe can gather in Nevarro to play and experience The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island and view exclusive content.

Developed through a creative collaboration between Epic Games, Disney, Lucasfilm, Fairview Portals — director Jon Favreau’s storytelling creative studio — and Beyond Creative, the island brings key elements of The Mandalorian and Grogu universe into Fortnite.

Within the island, players can enjoy a 10-minute sneak peek of the upcoming film and a special message from Jon Favreau ahead of its May 22 theatrical release. The Fairview Portals team thoughtfully brought together key artisans and craftspeople from The Mandalorian & Grogu production to help build the island in collaboration with Lucasfilm, Beyond Creative, and Epic. Players can complete quests, interact with iconic characters like Marshall IG-11 and watch an exclusive Q&A with Favreau on May 26, where he answers questions submitted by the Fortnite community.

The Watch Party Island showcases how cinematic world-building can be integrated into a social, interactive platform like Fortnite. In many ways, experiences like these reflect a broader evolution in how Star Wars stories can be told and experienced across media — while The Mandalorian and Grogu comes to the big screen after drawing from the world first seen on Disney+, the Watch Party Island offers fans the ability to step inside Nevarro and expand their agency within the story as they connect with others in real time.

Disney and Epic Games are Bringing Star Wars to Fortnite in a Whole New Way

As part of the push to bring fans closer to their favorite stories and characters, Lucasfilm and Epic Games introduced the official STAR WARS Toolkit — the largest IP toolset in Fortnite, enabling developers to build entirely new experiences inspired by Star Wars. For the first time ever, Fortnite creators can pull from a wealth of iconic characters, vehicles, environments, and more to develop unique, immersive games, delivering original stories and welcoming new and existing fans into the Star Wars galaxy.

Galactic Siege, Escape Vader, and Droid Tycoon are just three of the thousands of islands in Fortnite and explore a different style of gameplay through a Star Wars lens. From high-stakes action to strategic problem-solving, these unique experiences invite fans to engage with the universe in ways that match their interests and skill levels, while still feeling unmistakably part of Star Wars.

Players can jump into STAR WARS islands to seamlessly collaborate or compete against friends across PC, console, and mobile devices.

Extending the Story Across Experiences

On the same day the film debuts in theaters, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will introduce a brand new mission featuring Din Djarin and Grogu, while also — for the first time — allowing guests to choose which location to explore during the adventure, introducing previously unseen levels of guest control on the attraction.

Together, these elements highlight Disney’s unique ability to build immersive worlds across film, streaming, games, parks, and other parts of Disney’s vast ecosystem. It’s an approach rooted in a decades-long legacy of storytelling and innovation, and with Disney Games, that’s now evolving for a new generation of audiences who expect to engage with stories not just by watching, but by playing, sharing, and belonging.

Building Enduring Fan Connections Across Platforms

Against this backdrop of cultural momentum, Disney’s interactive and gaming endeavors are playing an increasingly vital role in how fans engage with these worlds across platforms — before, during, and long after the theatrical experience.

By working with premier game developers and studios across the globe, Disney is not only expanding how new stories are told but actively helping shape the future of entertainment.

“Gaming is where new generations of fans are discovering Disney,” said Sean Shoptaw, EVP, Disney Games & Digital Entertainment. “By creating experiences that drive meaningful connections, we’re giving players new ways to engage with our characters and franchises, while building communities that grow and thrive far beyond a single moment or platform.”

That vision is brought to life through Disney’s ongoing relationship with Epic Games, which underscores a shared commitment to bold, immersive storytelling. Together, Disney and Epic are delivering expansive, social experiences that blend interactive play and creative self-expression, redefining how audiences build their own worlds — even in galaxies far, far away.
