Earlier this week, we took you down a fashion runway with an update from our teams across Europe. Today, our trip begins down an aviation runway with the sky-high premiere of Disney’s Planes in Australia.
The U.S. premiere of Disney’s Planes took place this week in Hollywood, kicking off events in markets around the world. The most unique event is set to take place aboard a Qantas Boeing 767 aircraft in Australia on September 7. More than 250 guests will be the first to see the movie 30,000 feet in the air. Believed to be the world’s first premiere in the skies, kids from around Australia can win a seat by entering an online contest. John Cracknell, managing director, The Walt Disney Company Australia & New Zealand, shared, “This unique premiere combines storytelling with fun, innovation and a once in a lifetime experience that reflects the core essence of Disney. We are thrilled to have Qantas as our official co-pilot for Planes in Australia and for the best family entertainment in the skies.”
Next stop, Thailand. Following the launch of Disney XD in Malaysia in 2012 and Singapore earlier this year, the network is now set to launch in Thailand. Disney XD is the market’s first High-Definition kids channel offering on the country’s leading cable operator, TrueVisions. The 24-hour boy-targeted, girl-inclusive channel will be home to Marvel animated shows including Ultimate Spider-Man and the upcoming series Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and will be available in the Thai language. Disney Channel and Disney Junior will also re-launch in the Thai language later this year.
And finally, Disney Korea, along with high-end retailer Lotte, is offering fans of a chance to interact with Disney like never before with the launch of the Disney Dream Festival at two locations in Seoul. Now through August 25, families can take part in a series of activities including a dance contest, a drawing competition, a Princess Academy and the Disney Mobile Games Zone. Young adults can head to the Dream Talk Concert where famous singers are sharing how they’ve achieved their dreams; and fans of all ages can enjoy the History Zone pop-up shop that showcases 90 years of Disney heritage.
Later this summer, keep your eye out for an update from our Disney VoluntEARS in the Asia Pacific region!
