Earlier this month, David kicked off our Disney VoluntEARS 30th anniversary series with a look at the history of volunteerism at Disney. Today, I’m excited to share how we’re kicking off the next 30 years of Disney VoluntEARS at our parks and resorts.
At the Disneyland Resort, thousands of Cast Members participated in the VoluntEARS anniversary celebration event that showcased 10 local non-profit organizations to highlight some of the ways that VoluntEARS are benefiting the community. There were even opportunities for Cast Members to lend a hand at the party.
From cleaning up a nature preserve to working with kids at the Boys and Girls Club to serving food with the Coalition for the Homeless, Walt Disney World VoluntEARS will have plenty of opportunities to give back — with at least one VoluntEAR activity every day in May! Check out this video celebrating what it means to be a VoluntEAR at Walt Disney World.
Disney Cruise Line Cast and Crew members are VoluntEARing on land and at sea. Among several activities in the ports of call, Cast and Crew Members will read stories to kids at schools and then lead them in creating personalized bookmarks. On board, they will paint murals for hospitals, including one that will be donated to Hospital General de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, a port for the summer Mediterranean sailings.
On Solidarity Day, Disneyland Paris VoluntEARS will welcome to the park hundreds of children and families who receive assistance from local charities. Disney VoluntEARS also decorated the formerly blank walls of the recently opened Val d’Europe hospital.
Specially-trained Hong Kong Disneyland VoluntEARS will participate in play therapy activities in the pediatric wards of four local hospitals. Hong Kong Disneyland’s vendors and business associates will also have an opportunity to join Disney VoluntEARS by planting an organic farm.
VoluntEARS from Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, recently joined with Blue Star Families for Books on Bases, which Disney donated 1,500 books to promote reading and creativity among children of military families. Aulani VoluntEARS will also help bring a new KaBOOM! playground to the island.
Walt Disney Imagineering VoluntEARS will lend their skills and expertise to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity in May. This is just one of 60 community service projects that the Imagineers are performing as part of their own 60th anniversary celebration.
VoluntEARS at the Shanghai Disney Resort, which is currently under construction, will extend its community beautification program to a children’s hospital.
Disney parks and resorts VoluntEARS are making a difference across the globe, and we’re excited about all of the new VoluntEARS who have been inspired to join the fun this month and beyond.
