Finally, the fall television season is upon us! I can hardly wait to get back into some of my favorite ABC shows like Revenge and Nashville. I’m also really excited about ABC’s new lineup—it seems there’s something for everyone! With sure-fire hits such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., laugh-out-loud comedies, including The Goldbergs and deliciously sudsy dramas like Betrayal—my viewing schedule is fully booked!
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect from ABC’s new can’t-miss shows debuting this fall.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind the feature film Marvel’s The Avengers, has co-created Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a dynamic, action-packed one-hour drama that brings back Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) to lead a team of highly skilled agents to investigate extra-normal and super-human people and events worldwide.
The Goldbergs
Premiere Date: Tuesday, September 24, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Ah, the ‘80s. The hair, the clothes, the music… It was a simpler, yet sartorially challenged time—and 11-year-old aspiring filmmaker Adam (Sean Giambrone) has decided to record it all with his trusty VHS camcorder. There’s smothering mom Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey); surly father Murray (Jeff Garlin); pretty 17-year-old sister Erica (Hayley Orrantia), who definitely isn’t one to mess with; and 16-year-old brother Barry (Troy Gentile), nursing a bad case of “middle-child syndrome.” Rounding out the family is Pops (George Segal)—the clan’s grandfather and local “casanova” of the senior set. Providing the voice of adult Adam is comedian/actor Patton Oswalt.
Trophy Wife
Premiere Date: Tuesday, September 24, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT
Starring Malin Akerman as Kate and Bradley Whitford as Pete, Trophy Wife takes a comedic look into whether the third time really is the charm. Kate, a reformed party girl with previously untapped maternal savvy, joins an “instafamily” when she marries the slightly older Pete. Turns out, Pete already has two ex-wives—former Olympic athlete Diane (Marcia Gay Harden) and flighty, neurotic Jackie (Michaela Watkins)—plus teenage twins Hillary and Warren (Bailee Madison and Ryan Scott Lee) and adopted son Bert (Albert Tsai). Will Kate really be able to pull this big, blended family together?

Terry Gannon Jr. (Maggie Lawson) had it all. She was an all-star softball player… Until her sports career took a big U-turn—thanks to a baby, a cheating ex-husband and a lost college scholarship. After striking out on her own, Terry and her son Danny (Griffin Gluck) move in with her previously estranged father (James Caan). Known as “The Cannon,” this old man is a beer-swilling, stubborn ex-athlete with a less-than subpar resumé in professional baseball. A has-been athlete soured on sports, Terry Jr. still can’t keep Danny from feeling the pull of the baseball field. And when Danny doesn’t make the local little league team, Terry ever so reluctantly decides to step right up to the plate and coach a group of athletic misfits.
