The Walt Disney Company has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This marks the 12th consecutive year that Disney has earned top marks on the survey, as well as the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
The survey evaluates corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, such as non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Disney, a recognized leader in LGBTQ workplace equality, satisfied all of the survey’s criteria.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
Disney’s longstanding and ongoing commitment to equality includes providing benefits for same-sex partners, supporting community organizations and working to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for LGBT employees. Additionally, across Disney’s business segments, employees have access to resource groups for LGBT and ally employees that provide business insights, support and opportunities for development.
Profiles in Diversity Journal recently recognized Disney with a 2017 Top Innovations in Diversity & Inclusion Award for its Equality Institute events, which help companies gain insights on how to create welcoming and inclusive workplaces for LGBT employees. Disney’s efforts have also been recognized with awards such as an Outie Award for Workplace Excellence from Out & Equal Workplace Advocates and a 20/20 Visionary Award from The Trevor Project.
Disney is committed to providing safe, respectful and inclusive workplaces where everyone can contribute, grow and help develop world-class entertainment and experiences. The varied and diverse perspectives of every employee fuel the creativity and innovation that are the hallmark of the Company.
