We promise we didn’t time the release of Frozen, the latest animated hit from Walt Disney Animation Studios, to the historic polar vortex that has blanketed the country in snow and subzero temperatures. That was uncanny.
But our recently announced theatrical sing-along engagement of Frozen has something very specific to thank for its timing: The film has hit a chord with audiences. Fan response has been incredible. We can’t count the YouTube covers, fan sites and GIFs that have sprung up in the past few weeks!
Frozen has now earned more than $820 million worldwide and is already the second highest grossing non-sequel animated film of all time, behind only Disney•Pixar’s Finding Nemo and the No. 7 animated release of all time (in original release). Today, it returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart after spending two weeks in the top spot earlier this month.
So, what better way to celebrate than by getting everyone back together and adding in some audience participation with a sing-along? Starting this weekend at select screenings in more than 2,000 theaters, including Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, you can belt out the hits that are keeping Frozen at the top of the box office and the charts.
Warm up your vocal chords, Frozen-atics. It’s time to join Anna and Elsa in song and “Let It Go” with your kindred spirits. Check your local listings for a sing-along screening near you!
