UPDATE (December 7, 2012): Yesterday, we celebrated a milestone event with the grand opening of New Fantasyland at Walt Disney World Resort. Ginnifer Goodwin, who plays Snow White on the hit ABC-TV drama Once Upon a Time, joined pop star Jordin Sparks and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs in grand opening ceremonies. We’re getting very close to the big day at the Walt Disney World Resort, where a new chapter will soon begin for our most popular land at our most popular park. We’ve made a significant investment that marks the largest expansion in the history of the Magic Kingdom park — and next week, guests will enter New Fantasyland and be connected to their favorite Disney characters and stories like never before.
Fantasyland has always been home to some of our most iconic attractions, and now it’s even more memorable. This summer, the first phase of New Fantasyland was completed asStorybook Circus debuted with The Barnstormer, Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station and a double dose of Dumbo.
And starting in December, we’ll enhance those experiences by taking guests to the Enchanted Forest. Here’s a taste of what awaits:
Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid allows guests to travel with Ariel and her friends against a musical backdrop of songs from the classic film.
Be Our Guest Restaurant features lavish dining in an elegant ballroom. With seating for 550 guests, it will offer quick service by day and full table service dining in the evening.
Enchanted Tales With Belle transports guests via a new kind of storytelling as they join Belle and Lumiere in a lively, interactive, re-telling of the “tale as old as time.”
Beyond 2012, Guests will also be able to experience the Princess Fairytale Hall, scheduled to open next year, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, planned for 2014.
New Fantasyland has been several years in the making and has involved thousands of cast members and Imagineers. The results are extraordinary … and showcase what Walt Disney Parks and Resorts does best: push the boundaries of creativity, innovation and imagination.
