Disney Recognized for Supplier Diversity Efforts

The Asian Business Association-Los Angeles (ABA-LA) recently recognized The Walt Disney Company’s supplier diversity efforts with its Corporation of the Year award.

Disney’s commitment to supplier diversity helps teams find innovative, cost-effective and high-quality solutions that help its businesses achieve business goals. As part of the Sourcing and Procurement organization, the Supplier Diversity team promotes equitable inclusion for minority, women, veteran and LGBT suppliers in the Company’s supply chain.

The Asian Business Association creates opportunities and provides education and training for its members, who are business owners from across the Asian American community.

The Corporation of the Year award recognizes Disney’s efforts to work with diverse suppliers, including education events, supporting diverse supplier organizations and matching potential suppliers with sourcing and procurement teams at Disney, ABC, ESPN, Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm. In addition to advancing business goals, working with diverse suppliers is one way that the Company strengthens communities where Disney operates.

Christine Cadena, vice president of Multicultural Initiatives for The Walt Disney Company, accepted the award with Ben Tubuo, a member of the supplier diversity team for The Walt Disney Studios and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. Cadena said, “Diversity and inclusion are important drivers of innovation and help us identify and work with suppliers who deliver world-class solutions for our businesses.”
