Cathy Deroy Named Senior Vice President, Counsel At The Walt Disney Company

BURBANK, Calif.–Cathy DeRoy has been named senior vice president, counsel for The Walt Disney Company, it was announced today by Lou Meisinger, executive vice president and chief legal counsel.

Her responsibilities include managing the Consumer Products legal group, which encompasses global legal affairs for Disney Licensing, Disney Publishing, Disney Interactive and the Disney Stores and Catalog. “Cathy has demonstrated great leadership since taking oversight of the legal affairs of the Consumer Products group,” says Meisinger, “She is an outstanding lawyer and manager.”

Since joining Disney in 1994 as senior counsel, she has moved through a series of increasingly responsible posts, most recently, she was vice president and counsel in charge of legal affairs for Disney Licensing.

Prior to joining Disney, DeRoy was an attorney with Knapp Communications Corp. and also litigated in private practice. She holds a B.A. from USC and a J.D. from UCLA.
