Disney Conservation Heroes Honored for Efforts to Protect Wildlife and Habitats

Dedicated people around the world make strides every day to protect our planet. They commit their lives to conservation and share their passion with their communities.

Today, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund is recognizing 14 of these inspiring individuals with this year’s Disney Conservation Hero award. Each recipient was nominated by a nonprofit and will share a $1,500 award with their nominating organization. Since 2004, Disney has honored 85 leaders. Meet this year’s heroes!

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Honors Conservation Heroes

Today, we’re proud to announce this year’s “Disney Conservation Hero” award recipients.

Each year, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) recognizes individuals who work tirelessly to save wildlife, protect habitats and educate communities. The eight-year-old program has honored nearly 70 people since it began.

Honorees are nominated by DWCF-supported nonprofit organizations and receive a $1,000 award to share with the organization. Meet this year’s heroes:

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Awards $250,000 Grant for Animal Rescue Efforts

Today, we want to introduce you to the latest recipient of a Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) grant, International Fund for Animal Welfare. IFAW is a nonprofit dedicated to saving animals around the world, and received a $250,000 grant to further their work to care for animals while developing long-term solutions that protect animal populations and habitats.

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Announces 2012 Grant Recipients

Nearly five years ago, I started my Disney career as a professional intern for the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF). I helped support the annual grants program and shared Disney’s conservation efforts with our cast members, employees and guests. I became fascinated with the people and the projects that DWCF funded, and almost immediately grew a passion for protecting wildlife and caring for the environment.
