ABC’S “According To Jim” Star Jim Belushi & Olympic Gold Medalists Tara Lipinski And Sara Hughes Scheduled To Read Top Children’s Stories On Radio Disney

BURBANK, Calif. (April 18, 2003) – In its continuing effort to help encourage parents and caregivers to read with children, Radio Disney has joined with Laura Bush for special story readings as part of the “Reading Together with Laura Bush and Friends” campaign. The new series will begin airing with Jim Belushi’s reading of “Billy Goats Gruff” on April 25, 2003 at 1pm EST.

Radio Disney’s “Reading Together with Laura Bush & Friends” is part of Disney’s company-wide “Reading Together” effort to encourage parents and caregivers to spend time sharing books with children in ways that are fun and engaging. The initiative features celebrity readings and reading tips helpful to both children and parents.

“Radio Disney hopes to inspire families to spend more time reading with their kids by airing the special ‘Reading Together with Laura Bush and Friends’ program,” said Robin Jones, Vice-President of Programming for Radio Disney. “Radio Disney’s ‘Circle Time Story’ gives parents a designated time to share classic children’s stories, while teaching important values such as courage, honor and friendship.” This regular 10-15 minute story-reading feature airs on Radio Disney Monday thru Friday at 1pm EST.
