-- The original theme park where Walt Disney himself walked, Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. More than 650 million guests have followed in his footsteps and the park has grown into a world-class destination with two theme parks, three hotels and the Downtown Disney shopping, dining and entertainment district. Disneyland Resort recently underwent a significant expansion at Disney California Adventure park, including the additions of Buena Vista Street, which transformed the park’s gateway into the 1920s and 1930s Los Angeles that greeted a young Walt Disney, and Cars Land, a new 12-acre land inspired by the hit Disney·Pixars film “Cars” that immerses guests in Radiator Springs. -- The first Disney resort built in China, Hong Kong Disneyland opened on Sept. 12, 2005 and has become one of the region’s top tourist destinations. The resort includes two hotels and recreation facilities and is a place that is uniquely Disney, but designed with local customs in mind. The park recently underwent a major expansion including the addition of three new themed areas: Toy Story Land (2011), Grizzly Gulch (2012) and Mystic Point (2013). In late 2016, guests will be able to take flight with Iron Man at the very first Disney attraction based on a Marvel character experience. Within the resort area, guests can also enjoy Inspiration Lake, the largest man-made lake in Hong Kong, and an arboretum displaying unique plant life.
