Hot-air balloon ride to Oz? Almost! The Oz The Great and Powerful balloon tour took flight today, with its first stop right here at The Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank. We thought it would be fun to share a few photos we captured from the kickoff this morning. Thankfully, it wasn’t too windy.
The balloon will make its next appearance tomorrow at the World Premiere of Oz The Great and Powerful at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, before heading cross-country in celebration of the film, which arrives in theaters in 3D on March 8. The “Journey to Oz Balloon Tour” includes the following stops so far:
February 17 – Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California
February 20 – Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida (where a few days later Oz The Great and Powerful’s James Franco will serve as Grand Marshal for the 55th running of the Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series)
March 5-6 – Central Park in New York City
On February 15, the “Journey to Oz Balloon Tour” app will go live on the film’s official Facebook page, giving fans an opportunity to unlock screenings in cities near them.
