The third and final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted this week, during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast, followed immediately by a global online launch.
The latest sneak peek at Star Wars: The Force Awakens was viewed by a TV audience of more than 16 million and subsequently seen 112 million times online, for an astonishing combined 128 million views globally within 24 hours.
Incredibly, that bests the record-breaking 88 million views for the second trailer, which was released in April during Star Wars Celebration. The first teaser trailer debuted in November 2014.
In conjunction with this week’s trailer debut, a new poster was unveiled and advance tickets went on sale in numerous countries. Theaters and ticket sellers were inundated with requests, and first-day advance-sales records fell around the world, thanks to the power of the Force. Rest assured there are showtimes being added constantly and plenty of tickets available to see the film.
Enthusiasm is at an all-time high, with folks in Norway camping out overnight in subzero temperatures for tickets, fans lining up around the block outside the box office at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, and costumed fans turning out for a special trailer debut event atop the Great Wall in China.
Now, just 56 days until the film’s December 18 domestic debut… As Yoda might say, “Patience you must have.”
