ESPN employs more than 1,000 public facing commentators, analysts, hosts and writers. They hail from all over the planet, and they’ve taken diverse paths to the worldwide leader in sports.
Still, perhaps none of these talents had the proximity to ESPN that Malcolm Huckaby did. The network’s first-year college basketball analyst grew up less than two miles away from our Bristol, Connecticut, campus.
“I could see ESPN from my front porch,” said Huckaby, a former star basketball player at Bristol Central High School. “I walked by it a million times in my childhood, but actually never stepped foot on the campus until this year, so of course I thought it would be cool to work there. But I always wondered if it was something I could do.”
This FrontRow post, by publicist Michael Humes, traces Huckaby’s path from ESPN neighbor to ESPN employee –including stops at Boston College, Europe, the NBA and Boston again.
