In November, Disney announced a $1 million donation to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) to establish The Walt Disney Company-HSF Scholarship Program. To recognize this commitment and the Company’s support of outstanding Latino students, HSF named Disney “Corporate Partner of the Year” at its Leaders in Education Awards luncheon today in Los Angeles, California.
The annual ceremony is held to highlight the contributions of students, parents, leading companies and partners that are advancing higher education for Latinos. Disney was praised for helping young leaders realize their academic goals.
“In the last year, we’ve had the pleasure of teaming with Disney. Their commitment of $1 million towards scholarship for Latino students throughout this country is significant, and we greatly appreciate their commitment,” HSF CEO Fidel Vargas said. “I don’t think there can be a more impactful contribution than to help a young person pursue their dreams and complete their college education.”
“We’re thrilled to be honored by HSF as Corporate Partner of the Year,” Christine Cadena, vice president, Multicultural Initiatives, The Walt Disney Company, added. “Kids and families are at the heart of everything we do. Through collaborations with organizations like HSF, we’re proud to support and strengthen our communities and to brighten lives around the world.”
