The Walt Disney Company received 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
“We are proud to receive the perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index again this year,” said Paul Richardson, chief diversity officer, The Walt Disney Company, and senior vice president, Human Resources, ESPN. “We are committed to ensuring that our workplace is welcoming and inclusive and that Disney will continue to thrive on the creativity, authenticity and magic found in all of our cast members and employees. Inclusion makes us stronger.”
The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. Disney’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100-percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality for the 11th consecutive year. In addition, the Company has consistently met the evolving standards for the perfect score, including the incorporation of transgender benefits.
This past year, the Company’s support of diversity efforts has included LGBT Pride panels, each attended by hundreds of Disney employees, and Disney was also proud to participate in PRIDE parades across the country and host the Out & Equal Conference at the Walt Disney World Resort in October. By driving engagements like these, Disney remains committed to fostering a safe and respectful workplace for employees to express themselves and thrive.
