Do you “Like” Disney on Facebook or follow @Disney on Twitter?
Social media has quickly become one of the most important ways we connect with our fans from around the world here at Disney. And, at the time of this blog post, the company has more than 920 million collective and worldwide “Likes” across Disney-branded Facebook pages alone.
So, you may be wondering what it takes to manage a Disney page on Facebook. That’s where Social Media Coordinator Jeromie Brown and his team at Disney Interactive Entertainment come in. Jeromie is the main liaison to the Walt Disney Studios’ Digital Marketing team and assists with creating original content for upcoming theatrical campaigns, as well as the Disney Studios brand presence in social.
I recently sat down with Jeromie to hear more about his work.
Name: Jeromie Brown
First Day at Disney: January 7, 2013
Title: Social Media Coordinator
Overseeing several Disney social media accounts sounds exciting! Describe your role.
As a social media coordinator, I work with the Studio Marketing, Publicity and Creative teams to find clever ways to share content across all of our respective social media accounts. I plan and coordinate content with these teams to find the most effective ways to engage our fans.
Currently, I’m working on the theatrical campaign for Disney’s Planes and home entertainment campaign for The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. Working with Disney Interactive and Walt Disney Studios allows me to use my creativity to understand the best ways to reach our fans through social media.
What do you enjoy most about working with social media?
I’ve always been intrigued by social media, branding and strategy; this role allows me to work across multiple divisions and grow in exactly what I love to do. It’s fun to share stories and content that our audiences truly appreciate.
How does your team keep up with social media trends and developments?
We track links that are shared with our content and pay close attention to insights and analytics. Through this process, we’re able to create reports that help us understand what types of messages and content our audiences enjoy most. We also attend weekly search and social media meetings and follow popular social media websites, journals and blogs to keep up with developments and conversations in the social media realm.
What’s your favorite part about your role?
Every day, I’m able to connect with thousands of people by sharing stories that contribute to their happiness. I also enjoy the challenge of crafting the most engaging messages and using different social media strategies to best connect with our fans. It’s amazing to work for Disney and a team that is extremely intelligent, inspiring and a pleasure to be around.
What’s been your most memorable experience at Disney?
Our team recently took a tour of Walt Disney’s Apartment and the Dream Suite at Disneyland park. It was surreal to be standing in the same room that the great Walt Disney once worked and lived in. It was amazing to see his family’s famous antiques and to find hidden Mickey’s in the carpet of the Dream Suite. This experience was nothing short of magical!
