The Disney office in Seattle recently opened its doors to network and connect with women in tech during a Girl Geek Dinner. For many in the Seattle office, there was tremendous excitement around this event as it was the first Girl Geek Dinner that Disney has hosted. The night was filled with learning, networking and celebration of the Girl Geek. Disney Technology panelists and presenters shared a little around some of the innovative happenings in Seattle. Many don’t realize that Disney has an office in Seattle, or that this team is making a global impact by creating worldwide experiences and touching millions of lives in their own backyard.
Pamela Ruhl, senior manager of SW Quality Engineering & Customer Solutions, shared with the group that “Disney magic is created when great imaginations and amazing software developers work together. Walt said it best, When you believe in a thing, believe it all over, implicitly and unquestioningly.”
This event not only saw tremendous attendance, but also allowed the Girl Geek to connect directly with fellow Girl Geeks in Disney. Louise Cassel, senior technical recruiter at Disney, is looking forward to the next dinner and shared, “Disney is one of Seattle’s best kept secrets among local technology companies. We have a huge opportunity to establish ourselves as an employer of choice in the area by cultivating relationships with communities like Girl Geek Dinner.”
