Learn. Practice. Share. Be prepared.
As families across the country get together and prepare for emergencies in recognition of National Preparedness Month, we’re also doing our part here at Disney by teaming up with the American Red Cross to share important tips and information on how to stay safe if a disaster occurs.
Currently airing on Disney Channel is our latest disaster-preparedness video—featuring Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce—that helps teach kids and families the importance of being emergency ready. Disney Friends for Change will also share the spot on its website and highlight simple steps everyone can take to prepare for disasters. Along with the video, families can download the Mickey and Friends Disaster Preparedness Activity Book, which makes emergency preparation a fun activity through a series of interactive games and exercises.
Disney is also supporting a number of Red Cross initiatives, including the expansion of The Pillowcase Project. Trained instructors teach youth a number of safety actions, which includes creating a family emergency plan and kit by packing essential items into a pillowcase for easy transport—a technique Cameron uses in the spot. This year, we’re funding the organization’s latest platform—a new mobile app for youth that will be available for Apple and Android devices by early November.
Throughout the year, Disney VoluntEARS are committed to helping the Red Cross during disaster-relief operations, and the program will continue to donate Mickey Mouse plush dolls to comfort children in the aftermath of disasters. And through our Annual Disaster Giving Program membership, the Company helps ensure the Red Cross can immediately respond when emergencies happen.
It’s never too early to talk about ways to be prepared and stay safe with your family and community. Check out Disney.com/Friends to get the conversation started.
