You’ve encountered them many times while strolling through Disney parks around the world. You may have even asked them a question or two while waiting to board an attraction. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts attraction hosts bring a touch of Disney magic to park guests every day—an opportunity that attracted Maggie Sears to become a Walt Disney World Resort cast member.
For this Disney employee profile, we headed to Magic Kingdom and talked to Maggie about her experience as an attraction host. During our conversation, she gave us an inside look into what it’s like to be a part of the magic.
Name: Maggie Sears
First Day at Disney: January 19, 2011
Title: Attractions Host
You have a unique opportunity to make memories for so many guests from around the world. Tell us about your role.
I am an attraction host for the Adventureland and Liberty Square areas at Magic Kingdom. This means that I welcome guests at iconic attractions such as Jungle Cruise, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and Haunted Mansion. And I get to share in our guests’ experiences every day as they visit these great attractions. I am also a trainer and coordinator, which allows me to help my fellow cast members deliver Disney magic to our guests.
What do you enjoy most about working at Walt Disney World Resort?
I most enjoy the people that I encounter every day. Each interaction with guests or my fellow cast members is special for me. I strive to create lasting memories for our guests.
Walk us through a typical day in your role.
There really isn’t a typical day for me, which makes it so exciting! When I am at the Haunted Mansion, I might be in the Stretching Room, helping guests board the attraction or outside greeting guests and answering their questions. I am also a trainer for the Haunted Mansion where I teach other cast members how to be the best maid or butler they can be! And I help with the “Once Upon A Time…Is Now” park orientation, a four-hour tour of Magic Kingdom for new cast members.
What led you to pursue a career with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts?
My decision to pursue this career started at a young age. My family is part of Disney Vacation Club and we frequently visit the resort. I was the child who would quote Jungle Cruise jokes months after our trips. Walt Disney World Resort has always been a place that makes my family happy, and bringing that same joy to other families is something I’ve always wanted to be a part of.
