Disney and National 4-H Council Join Together to Connect Youth to the Environment

Today, 4-H—the world’s largest youth development and empowerment organization—announced a special initiative, one that is targeted at bringing kids and families closer to nature, with a founding grant from Disney. Through the newly launched "Connecting Urban Youth to the Environment" program, kids and teens from Los Angeles and Orlando to Honolulu, New York and Austin can take part in interactive activities that’ll enable them to discover and protect the planet we share. Disney Post recently caught up with 4-H President and CEO Jennifer Sirangelo to learn more about this important initiative and why it’s vital for kids to learn more about the environment.

Disney Among Top 15 Ideal Employers in 2014 Universum Student Survey

Universum, a global leader in employer branding, recently announced its annual “U.S. Top 100 Employers,” and we are pleased that The Walt Disney Company ranked high on all of its lists. Disney landed at No. 1 on the Humanities list, No. 2 on the Business list, No. 8 on the Natural Science list, No. 9 on the Computer Science list, No. 9 on the Engineering list and No. 11 on the MBA list.

'Frozen' Honored at The Walt Disney Studios Main Theatre

Despite the blazing-hot California sunshine, The Walt Disney Studios lot never felt so "Frozen." On Friday, September 12, the Disney film that became a global sensation and the No. 1 animated movie of all time was honored at the Company’s headquarters. Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, led a special celebration for employees outside the Studio Main Theatre to honor the film’s worldwide success. “Animation is the basic DNA of this company,” Alan said. “In the past couple of months, a phenomenon has occurred that we’re all aware of—and that phenomenon is "Frozen." We’re all very proud of this movie because its success and quality are completely consistent with the values we share and care about at Disney.” Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger also joined the festivities, along with Andrew Millstein, executive vice president and general manager, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and three of the filmmakers responsible for bringing the tale of Anna and Elsa to life.

Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Announces 2014 Grant Recipients and Surpasses $25 Million Giving Milestone

Connecting kids and families with nature not only provides an opportunity for discovery and learning, it also ignites their imaginations so they can develop lifelong conservation values—a quality that’s essential to creating a brighter tomorrow. That’s why the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) is such a special initiative. For nearly two decades, the granting program has supported projects that protect wildlife and bring people closer to the natural world we share. DWCF reached another milestone today as it named its 2014 conservation grant recipients, surpassing the $25 million mark in grants to date. The 141 organizations were selected based upon their efforts to study wildlife, protect habitats and develop community conservation and education programs in critical ecosystems.
