'Alexander' Honored with First Common Sense Seal

The brand-new Disney film "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" arrives in theaters tomorrow! This hilarious adventure based on Judith Viorst’s classic children’s book was recently honored by the nonprofit Common Sense Media with the inaugural Common Sense Seal, the first honor of its kind to recognize the very best in family films.

#DisneyHaunts Halloween with Consumer Products

With Halloween looming around the corner, 162 million Americans are expected to celebrate the haunted holiday this year. At Disney Consumer Products (DCP), we are beyond ready for a frightfully fun time! In fact, we are so excited for Halloween that we hosted an invite-only #DisneyHaunts VIP Halloween Event last Tuesday, October 4. The spook-tacular event took place at Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus, transforming the space to a fabulously frightful Halloween fashion show and shopping event. The fashion runway lay directly in the center of the space, with models of all ages showcasing top Disney Halloween costumes. With highlights across all of the Disney franchises including Disney Princess, Marvel, "Star Wars" and Disney Junior, the pieces represented a variety of costume options for everyone.

Visitors got a glimpse of how technology and storytelling align to transform wedding cakes with fully customizable image-mapping projection.

'Sleeping Beauty' Released from the Disney Vault

It’s a dreamy day for Sleeping Beauty fans with new home entertainment and music releases now available in celebration of the animated classic’s 55th anniversary! Adapted from Charles Perrault’s 17th-century version of the fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty was an incredible undertaking that stands the test of time. Three hundred animators and artists spent six years making the film and generated nearly one million drawings and other pieces of art in the process. Its production design and artistry continue to be admired today, and it also spawned, in this writer’s opinion, one of the most memorable villains in movie history. (You know who I’m talking about, but as we discovered in this summer’s Maleficent, maybe she isn’t so villainous after all.)

Disney/ABC Television Group Employees Take Part in Festival of Short Films

When you share an idea with someone, you never know where it might lead. Perhaps you’ll collaborate with a colleague with whom you would otherwise never cross paths, or discover untapped talents that have nothing to do with your job. You might even find yourself on the red carpet of a film festival. This past summer, Sean Cannon, an editor at ABC Entertainment Marketing, had an idea to expand a small, grass-roots film showcase that was held for his department. He partnered with Claudia Ball, Internal Communications manager, who thought that a festival of shorts created by Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) employees would fit nicely into their annual summer event organized for DATG employees. “The Summer Event has always hinged or centered around creativity and innovation,” Claudia details. “The film festival would be a way for employees to have their voices heard and show how creative they are.”
