By Heather Hust Rivera, The Walt Disney Company

The latest in our series of updates from around the world includes an all-new Disney website in China, new industry awards for Disney Channels in Asia and a spotlight on a recent Disney Princess Academy that toured India and introduced 1,800 little girls to Disney Princesses.

Disney China Official Website Gets a New Look — Following the recent launch of the new Disney.com in the US, the digital gateway for all things Disney in China, www.disney.cn, now offers a richer experience to users across platforms and devices, including tablets and smartphones. The new site also makes it more convenient for users to share their favorite Disney content with friends via social media.

Disney Channels SEA Wins Industry Awards — At the recent Asian Television Awards, a significant regional television industry event which recognizes excellence in programming, production and performance, held in Singapore, Disney Channels Southeast Asia (SEA) won awards for creative excellence for its programs, on-air videos and visual elements. One of the biggest winners, a show called ‘Art Attack’, was honored with ‘Best Children’s Programme.

Disney India Presents Princess Experiences during Festival of Lights — For the first time, during the festive season of Diwali, the Disney Princess Academy toured India fulfilling the dreams of 1,800 little girls. The academy offered the girls a chance to: meet with Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel have magical princess makeover sessions; and learn ballroom dancing, etiquette training and tiara making.

Roshini Bakshi, Managing Director of Licensing and Retail for Disney India, shares, “It is the love of our fans that has made Disney Princesses the #1 franchise for young girls across India. We are thrilled to bring the magical and enchanting experiences of Disney Princesses and their stories alive through Princess Academy.”

In addition to the academy, Disney Princesses also joined a group of VoluntEARS in Mumbai for a special Diwali celebration ceremony with 55 school girls participating in a Disney/ABC community project, an initiative aimed at reducing school drop-out rates by making school more fun.
