Disney Television Animation's 'Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero'—A Match Made in Storytelling

Ten years ago, Jared Bush started thinking about how cool it would be to jump into different worlds and different genres. It was a concept he always held onto and thought would make a great cartoon, but he just couldn’t seem to get the idea fully baked in his mind. “Who was going to [jump around] and when was that going to happen,” Jared recalls asking himself. “How would we get to those different worlds?” Enter Sam Levine. It was around four years ago that Jonathan Schneider, executive director, Development, Disney Television Animation, facilitated a lunch meeting between the two soon-to-be creators and executive producers of "Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero," and they clicked instantly.

Disney Friends for Change Grants Inspire Creativity Among Young Change-Makers

There’s a common theme in making a difference—creativity. Whether you’re looking to protect the planet, help your community or promote healthy behaviors, your creative ideas can inspire your friends and peers to lend their skills, interests and talents to create a brighter tomorrow. Disney Friends for Change, too, is committed to supporting young leaders in pursuit of making their communities greener, safer, smarter, healthier, cleaner and fairer. Their annual grants program, through a collaboration with leading youth organization Youth Service America, will provide $500 grants to help young dreamers and doers make a lasting, positive change in the world. Projects and initiatives taking place on or around Global Youth Service Day (April 17–19) will highlight the creativity and commitment of young people who work to meet the needs of others.

60 Local Students Join Disney Interactive Employees for Hour of Code 2014

To kick off the second annual Hour of Code global campaign aimed toward K-12 students during Computer Science Education Week, earlier this week, we opened up our offices in Kelowna, Palo Alto, Seattle and Glendale to local students for an afternoon of coding using the "Disney Infinity" versions of Disney’s "Frozen" characters Anna and Elsa in Code.org’s Hour of Code 2014 signature lesson.

Disney Employees "Share the Joy" at Family Volunteer Day

November marks the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year, especially at Disney. Our VoluntEARS are kicking off the season with the “Share the Joy” campaign, which provides volunteering opportunities for Disney employees across the country. The first “Share the Joy” event took place this past Saturday, on Family Volunteer Day, where employees and their families got a head start on spreading holiday cheer in their neighborhoods. Disney Friends for Change—a global initiative that inspires kids and their families to make a lasting, positive change by helping people, communities and the planet—and Points of Light’s generationOn initiative invited mom, dad and kids of all ages to come together for a fun-filled day of service.

MyMagic+—the collection of tools taking the guest experience to the next level at the Walt Disney World Resort—was recently honored with an “Innovation by Design” award by the popular magazine and website, "Fast Company." MyMagic+ received the top spot in the “Experience Design” category when "Fast Company" revealed the 10 best designs of the year at their annual “Innovation by Design” Awards and Conference in New York City.

Disney/ABC Television Group Inspires Families to Put an End to Bullying Throughout October

October marks National Bullying Prevention Month and Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) has teamed up with nonprofits GLSEN, Pacer and GLAAD to promote ways kids and families can prevent and put an end to bullying in their communities. DATG kicked off its “Choose Kindness” campaign at the beginning of the month on "Good Morning America," and is encouraging youth and millennials around the country to be the best version of themselves. The initiative will include public service announcements (PSAs) that will air on ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior and Radio Disney throughout October.

Disney News This Week: Disney's 'Frozen' Comes to Disney Club Penguin, Disney Springs' Storyline Unveiled, 'Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion' Premieres October 3 and Marvel Studios Releases a First Look at 'Ant-Man'

Disney Club Penguin is bringing the magic of Disney’s "Frozen" to Club Penguin Island now through September 3. During the Frozen Party, members can dress up like their favorite characters from the film, including Olaf, Sven, Anna, Elsa and Kristoff. They will also start the party by searching for Elsa’s magic snowflakes that are hidden around the island.

Disney News This Week: 'Big Hero 6' Voice Cast, Tinker Bell and Stitch Join 'Disney Infinity' (2.0 Edition) and Disney Channel and Disney XD Stars Sing "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" From Disney's 'Frozen'

Walt Disney Animation Studios officially announced the voice cast behind "Big Hero 6," an action-packed comedy adventure inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name. The star-studded cast includes Maya Rudolph, Damon Wayans Jr., T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, with Ryan Potter as Hiro Hamada and Scott Adsit as Baymax. The film arrives in theaters on November 7, 2014.

Disney's 'The 7D' Presents a Contemporary, Comedic Take on The Seven Dwarfs

Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc. We’ve grown up with these lovable, quirky characters from the Disney animated classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Expect to see a whole new incarnation of your favorite whistling dwarfs when the diminutive miners get to work in "The 7D," premiering on Disney XD Monday, July 7 (10 a.m. ET/PT). The series will also debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year.
